SUSPENDED HOUSE

A villa suspended in mid-air, nestled on a steep site on the edge of London. The house rests on a natural rock embankment; the pool is located downstream, and to the west, below the house, a terrace offers outdoor living. The ground floor houses the spa, which serves the outdoor pool. Upstairs, the villa, built within a 36-square-meter square, has a cross-shaped form. The cross allows for the creation of four interstitial spaces, open to the sky and the ground, suspended in mid-air so that earth and sky merge, and the walls of these spaces become frames of emptiness. Surfaces, like volumes, dissolve, becoming voids, where life animates them and transforms them into spaces—spaces of life.
