355 Ocean Drive is a large villa, its shape inspired by its location. We conceived three intertwined parallelepipeds. This interweaving creates a cross shape that allows for a spatial articulation that emphasizes the eastward view of the ocean. The idea was to create a covered courtyard that, through sliding glass doors, would allow for the proximity of the sea. A water courtyard embraces the volumes that rest on it, encouraging reflection and reverberation. The use of water allowed us to make the space changeable and allowed the light to vibrate and extend the surfaces between interior and exterior, creating a resemblance and continuity with the ocean.
The interior volume, on the south/north sides, allowed for daily life to be located to the south, while also establishing a main west-east axis that allows for a privileged view of the ocean; in fact, the dining room with its open kitchen appears suspended, like a prow, over the sea; There, a patio offers a 180° view of the ocean. We also decided to raise the villa off the ground to make the sea view even more breathtaking. On the first floor, we placed the study and living room, which overlook both the sea and the ground-floor living room through a double-height ceiling. Furthermore, the first floor features four suites, each complete with bathroom and walk-in closet. On the second floor, we placed the master suite, with a living room/study, a spacious bathroom with shower and tub, and a large closet; the suite also features a large panoramic terrace.
The villa also includes an annex, a separate office, and a spa with an indoor pool. Furthermore, the villa features a garage for five supercars and a cellar, as well as a professional kitchen, a bar area, and utility rooms separate from the main house.
